The Peartree is an interesting old pub, with a huge beer garden. Inside there are a range of tables, chairs and sofas with plenty room for large teams. The bar is well stocked, and there is a “malt of the month” for only £2.
The quiz is a bit of a mixed bag. It is attended almost exclusively by students, which probably explains why no-one seemed to mind a finishing time of nearly midnight. There are 5 rounds, and a cash-pot question at the end. Questions cover a good variety of topics and feature subjects suggested by teams taking part in the previous week’s quiz. The quizmaster was easy to understand and had a good sense of humour.
The main issue we had with the quiz was the incredibly long pauses between questions, never mind rounds. Perhaps we’re just getting old.
One more thing: remember to bring a pen, as these aren’t provided.
