The Star Bar is an unassuming wee pub, tucked away in a corner in a residential part of the city centre. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the juke box has good music on it and they serve a good selection of ales. A perfect venue for a quiz really! The décor is well-worn but there are so many posters on the walls you hardly notice this - you're too absorbed in reading them.

The quiz is run by Kenny, who used to do the quiz at The Canon's Gait on the Royal Mile. The quiz follows the same format as it did there - 2 picture/puzzle rounds to complete over the course of the quiz, a variety of other rounds including a music round, and the infamous wipe-out round which could change everything. Each time has a chance to play a "joker" which allows them double points on the round of their choice. Once the main quiz is over, everyone can play for the cash pot. This rolls over if not one and prizes have been pretty high in the past.

Pubquizzy love this quiz: it's informal, the quizmaster is good fun, there's a spread of questions to suit all and the prizes are decent. Definitely one to try.

One small thing to note is that the pub's website is very out-of-date - they no longer serve food, for example.
